@mauiThere are a few programs that offer Flight Training Scholarships. Some are gender based, others means based and generally offer programs that can assist eligible students to achieve some form of financially based assistance to further their flying career.
One such program offers up to a $15,000 Scholarship is with Maui Flight Academy.
This program is unique as it is a blind application process. There are two ways in which to qualify.
First students fill out an online Survey form, then they have a choice of either purchasing a flying hat or enrolling and completing either of the Private Pilot or IFR Ground School.
How is it funded?
Proceeds from the sales of hats or online ground school get accumulated into the active tracking portal, so you can see how far along the program is to being fully funded. Once it is full, an announcement is made via social media. You can follow Maui Flight Academy on Facebook or on Instagram. @mauiflight #FTEProject

The Maui Flight Academy has a newly designed free, wiki based learning system available for both Private Pilot and IFR Ground School.
Each program offers free videos and reading material. The only thing you pay for is the online quizzes and final exam. The entire cost of the program which includes the FAA Endorsement certificate is only $99.
If you are looking to start your IFR rating, you will need to pass the FAA Instrument Pilot Rating Written Exam. This starts with a good ground school. It can be done as quickly as 9 days, but most people take longer.
Our IFR Ground School is free to learn, watch videos and do the required reading. The program is divided into 8 modules. Each module has a quiz, and you are given 5 attempts to pass the quiz for a one time fee of $6.95.
There are a total of 9 quizzes plus the Final Exam. All in, there are over 800 questions. But don't be intimidated. Because everything you need to know and understand is covered in great detail.
The Final Exam is identical in weight and time as the FAA exam. Once you pass the final you will be given an instant download to print the FAA Endorsement Certificate to take to the testing center.
The entire cost of the program is just $99.
Is it really possible to complete the Private Pilot Ground School in 11 days?
Well, sort of. Our online Ground School for the Private Pilot License is divided into 11 modules. Each module contains a minimum of 1 hour of video, and 1 hour of reading material and 1 hour of online quiz.
The best way in which our students use the Ground School is to watch the video first during the day. Then go to the reading material just before bed to solidify the information. Then in the morning when you get up, do the online quiz.
Once you pass the quiz with a minimum 80% score you can move on to the next module.
Each student is given 5 attempts to pass the quiz for one low fee of $6.95.
Once you complete the modules, you will have taken over 700 questions. This exercise will give you confidence going into the Final Exam.
The Private Pilot Final Exam is identical in weighting and number of questions as the actual FAA Written Exam. It is 60 questions.
Upon passing the final, you will be given an instant download to print your FAA Endorsement Certificate to take to your local testing center.
The entire cost of the Private Pilot Ground School is currently set at $99.
